dc.description.abstractVertically alignedmulti-walledcarbonnanotubes(MWCNTs)weresynthesizedonNi-coatedSi substratesbythermalchemicalvapordeposition,andthen,the field emissionbehavioroftheMWCNTs wereinvestigatedwithincreasingtemperature.Beforethe field emissionmeasurements,ahighvoltage annealing wascarriedoutfortheemitters,whichresultedintheformationofdefectivelayeratthe emitting tips.Wehaveobservedlargelyincreasedemissioncurrentsandnon-linearFowler–Nordheim (F–N) plotsathightemperatures.Weproposethattheseunusual field emissionbehaviorsareattributed to thedefectivelayersformedonMWCNTtipsbyhighvoltageannealing.-
